Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a cognitive-behavioral therapy developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan and originally created to treat chronically suicidal individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. DBT is now recognized as the gold standard of treatment for individuals with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder. Research has shown DBT to be an effective evidence-based treatment for a variety of mental health conditions such as major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorders, substance use disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
